Klimt 2.0

When an artist - or a particular painting, sculpture or photo - has become iconic, it is often easy to forget how good that artist actually was/is.
Gustav Klimt is one of these. Lautrec is another prime example, and so is Warhol.
Too many posters, postcards, fold-outs & book covers detoriate and distract from the artwork and the artist him/herself. It almost dilutes the real quality of the art to just some painting, or a vague, distant shadow of the artist behind the art.
Often these icons get regurgitated, mixed & mashed-up, ab/re-used & sampled, until nothing is left of the original vision and intentions of the artist.
Sometimes though, on very rare occasions, art produces an offspring which equals, or at least comes very close to the original.
Such is the case with the Spanish photographer Moises González (and art direction by Katacca) with his series La Esencia de Klimt.
I could also say “Whatever, and what do I know ? I simply like these photos.”
