Sippin on the Rocks

20 December, 2007 (13:07) | food, objects

rockboxEverybody knows I like a glass of good single malt. Well, maybe not everybody. Perhaps just a few people in a famous bar in Phnom Penh I used to hang out every single day… Like Macallan 18yo Sherry Cask, for instance — probably the most deliciously delicious drink I’ve ever drunk…
Anyway, as all smart and intelligent people know, a single malt does not take ice. No sir ! A few drops of chilled natural mineral water (preferably from the same source as the distillery’s) are okay, maybe a spoonful, but certainly not more. No sir !

If that is even too much [water] for you - are you Scottish? - then there’s always this:

Put a little piece of Scotland in your Scotch!

Sippin on the Rocks offers the perfect solution to the problem of having your Scotch or favorite drink diluted with melting ice. These highly polished granite cubes are simply placed in your freezer and then are used to cool your drink. We are not trying to replace ice, simply allowing the Scotch drinker a chance to enjoy a different aspect of their favorite drink. Even the most demanding conniseur will appreciate putting a little bit of Scotland back into their Scotch!

I think it’s a great idea. It’s silly and it’s almost absurd. But it’s a great idea. I think.

Here’s the link.

Note that the buggers (in the photo) are using the wrong glasses for single malt. Those are thumblers; good enough for a stupid blend perhaps, but won’t do for a single malt. No sir ! Use tulip-shaped glasses instead, something like a port glass. Okay ?

Alternatively, you could freeze the glasses. Although I guess that means you would get a cold hand. Whatever, the granite certainly looks pretty cool, although (obviously) completely over the top.
